Our Thankful Tree

I can hardly believe it is Thanksgiving week! I love Thanksgiving, I believe it just may be my favorite holiday of the year. It is the one holiday that man has yet to ruin with a lot of stuff and stress (unless you count Black Friday which seems to be Black Thursday this year, boo). It is a special time, set aside, simply to be thankful.

Last year we begin a Thankful Tree one week before Thanksgiving Day. Every day, each member of the family wrote on a leaf what they were thankful for that day. So, we continued the tradition this year and what a blessed tradition it has become. Addison has reminded me every night "don't forget the leaves" and so after Family Altar we each write down what we are thankful for that day.

The Lord has been so kind to me personally, as well as to our family, this little exercise seems so small, but what a blessing it is to take time to be thankful! It is amazing how easy it is to be thankful even when life is in chaos or turmoil, we have SO much to be thankful for.

So, here are a few of things we (The Bond Family) are thankful for this week:

  • Prayer
  • My Guitar
  • Friends Across the Miles
  • Butterflies
  • The Book of Psalms
  • Molly (Our Jack Russell)
  • Restful Days
  • Good Grades
  • Healthy Body
  • Our Pastor

What are you thankful for this week?

Super Mom!

(I'm using an old pic today because I couldn't get a new one to upload~ugh computers) As I sit and write this post I feel on the verge of screaming, crying and pulling out my hair.Yesterday was our first day back to school and our first day getting back on the potty training schedule. And everything went soooo smooth! The boys studied so hard and didn't complain even once. Addison went potty at least 5 times and actually seemed happy about it. I even baked homemade Pita Bread for lunch. Yesterday I felt like Super Mom!! Then I woke up today... It is early afternoon and my little one is napping and the boys are just finishing up school. And I just want to cry! Why? Well, let's just say today was not quite as smooth and I wasn't quite the Super Mom I felt like yesterday. School was a bit more stressful, more tests, more lessons in diagraming (so glad I'm not in 5th grade), more potty accidents, more papers lost, more messes made and so forth. Really, j...

Faith without Fear

This thought has been on my heart all week, faith without fear. How many times have you stepped out on faith and noticed the trembling inside as you shook with fear? Isn’t it a scary thing to obey the Lord and take that step of faith? Not knowing where God is sending you, how He is going to provide for you, if you are going to get that job offer, if He is going to heal you, if your loved one is going to accept Christ, what to do next… Couldn’t you just tremble with fear NOT knowing??                 Hebrews 11:23 “By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment.” I was reading Hebrews this week and when I read this verse, a light seemed to come on. I had never thought about faith that way, faith without the fear. As you know, this blog is all about my journey in faith but I wo...
